Daily Tasks and Key Responsibilities
Your main duties include operating and driving heavy goods vehicles to collect domestic, recycling, food, communal, and commercial waste. You’re expected to plan your collection routes efficiently to ensure all properties are covered and waste is processed correctly.
Daily responsibilities also include routine vehicle checks, maintaining legal compliance, and documenting your work using handheld equipment. You will participate in both driving and operative tasks, so you’ll load, empty collections, and safely operate vehicle mechanisms.
Health and safety are top priorities—strict adherence to safety protocols is paramount on every shift. Customer service is essential, as you’ll interact with residents and ensure any missed collections are efficiently resolved.
To qualify, you need a valid Cat C HGV licence, Driver Qualification Card, and previous professional experience driving HGVs is preferred.
